Today I volunteered with the Durham Habitat for Humanity, and honestly, this was one of my favorite volunteer opportunities. First of all, it was one of those awesome win-win situations. A homeowner who was remodeling her kitchen got it dismantled for a fraction of the usual cost, and the Habitat for Humanity ReStore got cabinets, counters, and appliances.
Meanwhile I got to work with some great guys, learn some useful home renovation skills, and have the satisfaction of seeing a room go from full kitchen to bare walls in just a few hours.
I'll definitely be doing this again in the future.
